In 2009, I was new to the area and wanted to create a community. I lived in Germany and speak fairly fluent German. I was no longer using the language professionally and missed the interaction. I decided to form a group of German speakers in the Fair Lawn, Ridgewood and surrounding areas, to meet once every month or so, on a weekday evening. I welcome the opportunity to meet like-minded people, both native and non-native speakers. We do in fact speak German when we meet, so please be prepared.

There's usually between 15 and 20 people at the gatherings, which allows for great in depth conversations (in German as much as possible!) as well as fun chit chat. So come join us soon - all ages and …

This is a Meetup for lovers of foreign languages eager to meet and practice with others trying to learn or improve the same language. It is based on the concept of language guru Barry Farber ("How To Learn Any Language") and is hosted by his daughter (fluent in Swedish) and his grandson (nearly fluent in Spanish.) We will meet in an NYC restaurant twice a month and practice 2-3 foreign languages over dinner. There will be a guest appearance and short talk by Barry Farber at each meet up. Bienv …
